Sanderson Canyon

My first century+, in bike talk, a century is 100 mi., which is a long way on a bike! With all our blinking lights going, we got a very early start because it was to be a very long day. It was a cool to comfortable start and it was beautiful riding into sunrise. We rode quite fast through our sag stops and to lunch at 60 mi. After lunch the road surface got rougher, there were long hills, and it got up to around 95 degrees. Finally we found a bit of shade where they cut through rock to make the road. Also, we were lucky to find a small shop that sold ice cream and we sat inside and talked with the woman as we cooled down. My roommate tonight is Julie again, who at 31 is the 'baby' of the group. She is from Boise, ID and is a psychotherapist and one of our trusty sag drivers.
