Boulevard-Brawley, CA 77mi.
Today we got up and had breakfast. Linda cooked eggs and oatmeal in the back of her trailer and we brought it to our rooms to stay warm. I headed off at 7:30 all ready for a day that promised to get warmer. After 13 mi. we arrived at I-8 for the long awaited steep downhill 10 mi. section with strong crosswinds. Many chose to take a bump and avoid this part, but for those of us that rode it, it was the highlight of the day. It was beautiful scenery and the road was good, the shoulder was a full newly paved lane. After that we rode for quite a stretch along the Mexican border, we could see the fence and were passed by the border patrol many times. There was a memorable 7.5 mi. section of very bumpy road that was straight into the wind. With all the stops and such we finally at our very nice BW hotel at 4 pm. We celebrated with a soak in the hot tub with a beer. Dinner was chili, green salad and a brownie. A full day!
