Another "short day" but apparently that reflects how hilly it is. Today is mostly a blur of going up and down long steep hills and from being hot, from effort, to cold on the descents. We had a 5 mi. stretch on Interstate 8 that had a very wide smooth shoulder and a scenic view point. Scenery was a mix of different sizes and shapes of rocks, deserty vegetation, and gnarly forest. After one especially long cold descent, most everyone stopped at a cute cafe to warm up and have pie and soup. Tonight's hotel is pretty basic, nothing to write home about so I won't; but it beats the heck out of camping, especially since it's getting down to 32 degrees tonight.

On the days that we ride, our cook, Linda prepares meals from her kitchen in the back of the truck. Tonight was chicken curry, a crunchy salad, and chocolate fish for desert, carried all the way from New Zealand by Cher.
