Dauphin Island, AL-Pensacola, FL 59 mi.

After we reluctantly departed the DI Beach Club we rode to the east end of the island to catch the ferry. It was a pleasant and scenic 45 minute ride. We passed by an Exxon-Mobil rig that sits in 11 ft. of water and drills deep into sandstone for gas that is pumped through pipes to the mainland.
We rode through several beach areas and Gulf Shores, then finally into Florida our last state. It all would have been much more enjoyable if we hadn't had such a strong headwind the whole way.

There was a great bike shop across from our hotel and they repaired and replaced several wheels that had been damaged from the Moss Pt. bridge incident. Others had brake and shifting problems, I needed a new chain.
The Sole Hotel is very nice, they had happy hour for us in the lobby before our margarita party and dinner this evening.
