Cleveland-Silsbee, TX 64 mi.

Today was our last full day in Texas, and our last chance for Texas waffles. It was a warmer start, around 50F and sunny, a beautiful day which makes it easier to decide what to wear. Our outfits are quite limited and we can now recognize one another from a distance based on outfit, riding style, and bikes. The roads and surface were mostly good and the scenery was nice and green; Helen agreed that it reminded her of WI. The temperature got up to mid-seventies and we enjoyed the hot tub with the tired jets at the Pinewood Inn before dinner.
We rode through some forests and some clear cut areas, and past a Georgia Pacific mill. We were passed by logging trucks filled with long, uncut trees going in both directions, and the occasional truck filled with wood chips.

Cookie Jar Cafe
We stopped at The Cookie Jar Cafe but they didn't have any cookies made, so later we stopped for lunch at Mama Jack's for a cup of gumbo and shared onion rings, bike fuel ;-), they don't pedal themselves you know! It was quite a scene, lots of pictures and chatting with the normal folk!
This will post at a later date because wifi is just another one of those things not found at the Pinewood Inn.
